Today I Changed the Water in a White Vase
Tue, June 9, 2026
Changing the water in the white vase by the window made even the room air look clearer.
This morning, I changed the water in the white vase by the window. Pale blue light came through the curtain, and the surface of the clear water gave off a tiny sparkle. When I held the vase with both hands, the water felt cool through the glass, and even my sleepy morning feelings seemed to wake up slowly. After I poured the old water away and added fresh water, the flower stems looked a little straighter, and I felt my own back gently straighten too. Soft light rested on the edges of the white petals. The pale blue flowers moved lightly, as if they had borrowed a little color from the sky outside the window. It was not a big morning, but the sound of water and the shadows of the flowers made the room feel like it was taking a quiet breath. In the evening, I looked at the vase again. The water was still clear, and a gentle blue shadow rested on the white table. Even something that stays beside me every day can change so much with a little care. I hope tomorrow can begin with a feeling as clear and straight as fresh water.
